Select Safety OBD Inspection from Safety Systems Inspection Modules

Follow the on-screen instructions for performing the Safety OBD Inspection Module. Note: Newer vehicles with UDS OBD protocol are not compatible with first generation DADs. If the system identifies the vehicle as UDS protocol, follow the instructions for UDS Safety OBD inspection.

Non - UDS Protocol

Follow these steps in order if the vehicle protocol is not UDS.

Connect the DAD to the DLC and start the vehicle.

Select Back to return to the previous screen.
Select Continue to proceed.

Wait while OBD data is collected from the vehicle.

Turn off the vehicle and disconnect the DAD from the DLC.

Select OK to complete the safety OBD inspection.

Follow these steps in order if the vehicle protocol is UDS.

DO NOT CONNECT THE DAD TO THE DLC. For UDS vehicles, only a bulb check is performed.

Set the key to Key On Engine Off (KOEO) position and do not start the vehicle. Indicate whether the MIL is illuminated.

Select Back to return to the previous screen.
Select No to indicate the MIL did not illuminate.
Select Yes to indicate the MIL illuminated.

Start the vehicle and indicate whether the MIL is off.

Select Back to return to the previous screen.
Select No to indicate the MIL is on.
Select Yes to indicate the MIL is off.

The safety OBD inspection has been completed.
